TLG Staff: Meet The Classy Ladies of TLG!

TLG is back again to bring you more of our classy beautiful women of TLG! Today we have the awesomely, awesome lady gamer herself, Kitty, or Ms. Kitty if you’re nasty! lol! This lady really needs no introduction with how awesome she is ANYWAY! But, she has granted us the grace to introduce her! So, we finally present to you…

Kitty’s Introduction:

I was going to write this long and eloquent soliloquy about the myriad of contributors that make me who I am. However, it is ME we are talking about here. I know that if I started on some flowery descriptive narrative that I might start with facts about myself and the games that I enjoy, but I would quickly end up floating in the stratosphere of forgotten monologues, spinning wildly among tangents that don’t make sense to anybody. So to avoid that (and to attempt to keep my ADD randomness to a minimum) I am going to introduce myself in a bullet lists.

Basics:

  • My name is Kitty. You may call me “Kitty” or “Ms. Kitty” or “Hey, You!” or just “You” or whatever you come up with that denotes that you are speaking to/about me.
  • I have a supercool kid to whom I am passing on my propensity for all things nerdly/geekish. He’s rocking it out so far.
  • I LOVE MUSIC.
  • I was lucky enough to marry a gamer nerd/geek who also has a sense of responsibility (How rare is THAT? I knowwww!).
  • I have this rather intensely obsessive relationship with Star Wars.
  • I have also have an obsession with all things Joss Whedon that nearly rivals my love of Star Wars. (“Firefly” was the best shows ever made in the history and/or existence of everything ever. Period.)
  • I indulge in some form of gaming at least every other day if not every day.
  • I am incredibly opinionated about social issues. So, don’t be surprised if I drag out the soapbox now and again. I’ll try to keep my ranting to a minimum. 😛
  • I tend to get a bit random.

Music:

  • Pretty much anything that isn’t Country Western. Sorry if you’re a fan…I just can’t handle the twang. >__<*
  • Favorite music styles are: Jazz/Blues and J-Rock. (Eclectic, ne?)
  • Seriously though, Jazz owns my soul.
  • My. Soul.

Movies:

  • This is actually a wicked long list, so I’ll just throw off a few of my favs.
    • Equilibrium (ß—possibly the most badass movie ever made)
    • Boondock Saints (ß— rivals Equilibrium for badassery)
    • Serenity (duh)
    • Star Wars (mostly the original movies because 4-6 were awesome and 1-3 were borderline offensive. Wtf, jar-jar…)
    • Moon Child
    • I’m a Cyborg but That’s OK (ß—seriously, if you haven’t seen this, you need to. Possibly the most twistedly funny movie in existence.)
    • And a million movies more that will not be listed here for fear of this introduction beginning to look like a Myspace page. *shudder*
    • Oh, and the Avengers.
    • And anything with Robert Downey Jr. in it. Anything. That man could make eating a bowl of cereal look intense and meaningful…and hot. >__>

Books:

  • NOT EVEN GOING TO TRY THIS ONE.
  • I read 1,066 wpm.
  • Books are my mind expanding drug of choice.
  • We don’t have enough time for me to fan-girl over books.
  • NEXT!

And now the only category that really matters in this instance: GAMES!!

  • Types of Games I love:
    • RPGs
    • MMOs
    • Fighting Games
    • 1st Person Shooters
    • Arcade Games
    • Well-Done Horror Games (you know, like the Silent Hill series before “Homecoming”)
Types of Games that I do not love:

      • Driving Games (I suck at them. No really…)
      • Sports Games
      • Strategy Games (FF Tactics gives me narcolepsy)
      • Most games made directly from a movie (I’ve seen the movie already. Why would I play a game to get the exact same story? There are a few exceptions to this.)
      • I will also be the representative in the corner of those Lady Gamers who enjoy not just video gaming, but tabletop and maybe even LARP as well. J

Soooooo that’s me in a nutshell. I’m Kitty, nice to meet you! =^.^=

Now, if that intro didn’t tickle your funny bone, I don’t know what will! We are thrilled to have Kitty apart of our team! Stay tuned for me intros of our TLG staff!

TLG Staff: Meet The Classy Ladies of TLG!

Happy Sunday Morning, Gamers! This morning, TLG brings you another one of our classy ladies that is actually one of the first to be apart of the TLG staff! She is another beautiful and upcoming cosplayer and awesome gamer as well! So, today we  have the honor to introduce to you…

Hello, World! My name is Jessica, or “Jessi”, and my gamertag/alias is “ButerflySamurai”. Since my humble beginnings of watching my older cousins play Super Mario Brothers to actually holding my first controller at the age of 5, I have classified myself as a “gamer” and fully embraced the virtual worlds that developers create. Some of my all time favorite video games are Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Kingdom Hearts 2, Super Smash Brothers Melee (and Super Smash Brothers Brawl, of course!), Bayonetta, Uncharted, and several more.  I own every current generation console and portable, excluding the 3DS, which I do have plans to get in the future.

Other than gaming, I am also a cosplayer. I’ve been cosplaying for eleven years and have made costumes from anime, video games and movies. From Sheva Alomar of Resident Evil 5 to Black*Star of Soul Eater, I spend a lot of time creating these costumes and bringing these characters to life the best way that I can. I wear my costumes to a variety of conventions throughout the year including the Penny Arcade Expo and Dragon*con.

Now, for the not so gamer glamorous parts. I am a freelance journalist that graduated from Coastal Carolina University. I was born and raised in the South – South Carolina to be exact – and have a distinct, southern drawl that Siri does not understand. I have interned for Ubisoft Entertainment as a Frag Doll Cadette and traveled to events with them such as the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3!)

I cannot wait to see what TLG grows into in the future! Until then: See ya, Space Cowboy.

Ms. Jessi has been a joy to have on our team! Stay tuned for more of our leading ladies of TLG!

The Elder Scrolls Online

Having played Elder Scrolls: Oblivion to death and planning on doing the same with Skyrim, I’ve been waiting for The Elder Scrolls Online for *years*. TESO will comprise all of the continent of Tamriel on planet Nirn, only seen in sections in previous editions of the series. Poised for competition with fellow MMORPG World of Warcraft, I believe it will give the 7 1/2 year old game a *big* run for its money especially when big fans of TES series like myself gets going with it.

Set 1000 years before Skyrim, swords and arrows, lore, combat, beautiful enviroments will be a staple of TESO. Play alone or with friends to slay your enemies in this wide open world of Tamriel. Coming in 2013, it will be playable on Windows and Mac.

I am beyond stoked at getting this game. I look forward to exploring everything this huge world has to offer.

TLG Staff: Meet The Classy Ladies of TLG!

Happy Thursday evening, Lady gamers! TLG is proud to continue its blogging presentation of introducing our Lady Gamers staff to you. Today, we have….

–          About me

I’m a college student who moved to North Carolina at eighteen and suddenly realized how time could stand still like that one “D. Gray Man” episode. I enjoy playing video games (HAH!), reading smutty Laurell K. Hamilton novels in-between the classics, occasional anime splurges, petting my clingy cat, being a beach bum, critiquing other people’s grammar and most of all, writing my own stories.

–          How I got into gaming

I have fond memories from my childhood of zombies, aliens and vicious Mortal Kombat combos as a guy shouted ‘toasty’. But those memories were taken from the sidelines, as I watched my older brothers play on their consoles. My own foray into the gaming world wasn’t nearly as adventurous. My Nintendo 64 only had Kirby, Yoshi and Mario to keep it company. Years later, I grew more serious about gaming when I purchased a Playstation 2 along with a copy of Grandia II, and as they say, the rest is history.

–          What gaming means to me and how I’d use it to change the world

I love video games for the same reason I love books—fantasy allows for a certain suspension of belief, and I’d like to believe I’ll be able to marry Garrus (From the “Mass Effect” game franchise.) someday. However, video games take it to another level. Instead of traveling along with our favorite characters in a series, gamers get to literally control those characters. We immerse ourselves in vast, imaginative realms and make invisible connections with millions of other gamers all over the globe playing right along with us.  That connection crosses political, social, and ethnic lines in a way that brings us together, if only to conduct polls about which fictitious character we’d like to bone. Sex is always a good place to start when talking world peace.

–          How am I a lady gamer?

I enjoy roleplaying and simulation games the most. The Mass Effect series has SLIGHTLY crossed me over into shooter territory, but as I have yet to actually beat a shooter, I can’t say that it’s one of my favorite genres. I’ve already mentioned ME, but the Final Fantasy series is also a favorite of mine, along with The Elder Scrolls and The Sims. I can’t stomach horror by myself, as I’m a punk, but that doesn’t stop me from watching Amnesia: The Dark Descent videos on Youtube.

TLG is very privileged to have Ms. Elise with us! ^____^*

TLG Staff: Meet The Classy Ladies of TLG!

Today, TLG presents to you a well established Lady Gamer, not just in the gaming world, but in the cosplaying world as well! This young lady has cosplayed as some of the most recognizable video game, cartoon, comic book characters such as Maxine “Max” Gibson of the cartoon “Batman Beyond” and  TLG presents to you…

Hi! My name is Alexis, but I also go by the nickname “Lexi”. Not only am I super girly, but geeky as well. lol! A favorite hobby of mine is cosplay. I enjoy all aspects of it from gathering materials, putting together the costumes, wearing them, and attending conventions. You not only learn special cosplaying techniques, but you get to have a lot of fun doing so.

I’ve been a gamer since childhood playing Pac-Man, Super Mario, and Sonic The Hedgehog. I got into PC gaming with DOOM, The Sims, and American McGee’s Alice. I, eventually, got my own gaming system, which was PS1 in 1997. I also obtained Final Fantasy VII, which started my obsession with the franchise.
Gaming genre wise, RPGs have become my favorite genre because of the story  and adventure quality that they provide.

Besides gaming and cosplaying, I love to read. It’s like unfolding a book just as I do through gaming. My other favorite genre in gaming is survival horror! I’m a big fan of Resident Evil and Silent Hill. Other games I enjoy are BioShock, Legend of Legaia, general fighting games, and the list goes on. At the moment I haven’t been playing video games due to time constraints, but I hope to have a controller back in my hands soon! As being a part of TLG, I hope to bring a fresh, fun, and colorful perspective to the gaming/cosplaying world! ~(^___^)~

I believe Ms. Momo is going to be a great shining star just like the rest the of Lady Gamers! More of our ladies coming soon!

TLG Staff: Meet The Classy Ladies of TLG!

I have a vision that TLG is going to grow into something wonderful to provide insight, eduction, and mainly gaming greatness for all gamers! But, in order for this empire to grow, the foundation that it is bound to stand on must have its own kind of special supporting factors. The movement that TLG is based upon can’t go any further without the staff that I have gathered up for TLG!

So, we will begin with a series of posts introducing the beautiful ladies of True Lady Gamers! Getting the ball rolling, we have….

Hi there! My name is Bronwyn and I’m a Lady Gamer! I have loved playing video games ever since I got my first computer (an Apple when I was 9 or 10 years old.). At the time I didn’t know the term “gamer”. Oh, little did I know….

After a while, I started to really get into puzzle games and designing things. SimCity was BIG in my house during that time. I, eventually, discovered the Marathon Trilogy and I instantly got hooked on the alien shooter genre. I never really got into the war shooter stuff mostly because the realism of war stuff didn’t really appeal to me. Shooting aliens is much more fun. 🙂

One fateful day in the late 90s, I saw the video game “Resident Evil” in the store and I thought, “Hmmm…this looks interesting. I need something to play on my PlayStation.” And that, my friends, began my long love affair with the WHOLE series.

So, I’m sure you’ve figured out by now that I stick mainly to single player games: First person shooters, puzzle games, open world RPG’s (For example, the Metal Gear Solid series, Final Fantasy series, Resident Evil series and God of War series!) mostly because I’d much rather play alone or at least with people I know. But, for various reasons, I could never get around to playing with friends or other people I know. Bummer. So, I’m still pretty much a multiplayer noob. Go easy on me! :^)

I plan on adding my voice to the world that yes, there are women of color who play, and enjoy playing, video games and breakdown that stereotype that only white males 11-34 play them.

See ya in the game!

                          — Bronwyn♥

Now, that you have met Ms. Bronwyn, stay tuned for the rest the ladies! ^______^*
